Samuel F.B. Morse
As a former painter, Samuel F.B. Morse is known for inventing the telegraph and the Morse Code. In 1837, Morse applied for a patent for his new invention. In 1843, after receiving funds from the federal government, Morse was able to construct the first telegraph lines from Baltimore to Washington D.C. In 1844, he sent the first telegraph from Washington D.C. to Baltimore with the message: 'What hath God wrought!'. After years of working, Morse's hard work paid off because he quickly became a notable American inventor. |
