John Rolfe
After the Virginia colony of Jamestown experienced the starving time, John Rolfe came in and introduced tobacco, which immediately created a huge economic empire for the colony. Rolfe is known for having married Pocahontas, the Powhattan Chief's daughter. Unfortunately, three years after being brought to England she caught smallpox and died in 1618. |  |
