Patrick Henry
As a powerful orator, Patrick Henry is known for his "Give Me Liberty or Give Me Death" speech. After the American Revolution, when the Articles of Confederation was a failure, and a new constitution needed to be created, Henry became part of a political group called the Anti-Federalists. These anti-federalists opposed the new constitution. Henry was a strong critic of the new constitution and disliked the fact that the Constitutional Convention was held in secret. He supported more power to the individual states rather than to the federal government. |
