Alexander Hamilton
Known as a Founding Father, Alexander Hamilton was Secretary of the Treasury during George Washington's presidency. As treasurer, Hamilton proposed an idea that would help the new nation's economy. This proposal would allow the creation of a central bank that would provide a more stable currency. With the support of Washington, Hamilton's proposal was able to pass, thus creating the Bank of the United States. Hamilton was a strong supporter of manufacturing, banks, and merchants. His ideas helped shape the modern capitalist society that we have today. Hamilton died after being shot by Aaron Burr in the Burr-Hamilton Duel. |
