Dwight D. Eisenhower

As a five-star general in the United States Army Dwight D. Eisenhower (also known as "Ike") became the 34th President of the United States after winning the 1952 presidential race. During his presidency, he focused on inexpensive nuclear weapons, and brought America back on the Space Race after Russia launched the Sputnik satellite in 1957. Eisenhower was not the biggest fan of the New Deal, but he enlarged the Social Secutiry Act and he launched the Interstate Highway System. He was also able to finally remove Joseph McCarthy from power.
